Cartier
Cartier was founded in 1847 in Paris, France by Louis-François Cartier. When Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to Louis Cartier about the unreliability of pocket watches while flying, Cartier designed the “Santos” wristwatch with a square bezel. This timepiece was the first men’s wristwatch ever assembled. In 1907 Cartier signed an agreement with Edmond Jaeger to have him exclusively produce the movements for Cartier. The Cartier Tank model, named after the tanks used by the Western Front in the First World War, made its debut 10 years later in 1917. In 1932 the brand launched their Pasha watch, which is water resistant. The Santos, Tank and Pasha collections are still extremely popular today. In 2007, Cartier released the Balloon Bleu line, which has received overwhelming popularity as well.
