A. Lange & Sohne is a German watchmaking company considered to be one of the finest high-end watch brands in the world. Lange was founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in the town of Glashutte located in the state of Saxony, for which the brand's Saxonia line is named after. On the last day of the second World War, the company's factory was bombed. Walter Lange, Adoph Lange's great-grandson, helped rebuild the factory before it was expropriated in 1948. In 1990, the A. Lange & Sohne trademark was reestablished, and the brand has experienced unprecedented success ever since. Today, their most successful lines in addition to the Saxony line are the Lange 1 and Richard Lange lines.
