Blancpain, founded in 1735, is the oldest Swiss watch manufacturer in the world. The brand has never made a quartz watch throughout its entire existence and never will. Consequently, the brand almost went bankrupt during the Quartz Crisis in the 1970s. Today, now that automatic watches are overwhelmingly popular once more, Blancpain is flourishing. The brand is doing extremely well with the Fifty-Fathoms line, which consists of 45mm sports watches that use the Caliber 1315 in-house movement with a five-day power reserve. Every Blancpain watch is made from beginning to end by a single watchmaker. The brand is particularly famous for making the world’s smallest movement, the world’s thinnest movement and the world’s only water resistant minute repeater. |
