International Watch Company, often times referred to as IWC, is a high-end Swiss watch brand located in the town of Shaffhausen. While most Swiss watch companies manufacture their watches in western Switzerland, IWC is one of the only major brands that makes high-end timepieces on the other side of the country. The brand was founded in 1868 by watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones (F.A. Jones), who initially was the director of E. Howard & Co., America’s leading watchmaking company. While most of IWC’s watches use highly modified ETA movements, the brand does make in-house movements as well. Their signature in-house movement has a seven-day power reserve and is the world’s largest automatic movement. IWC’s most popular lines are their Pilot Watch line, their Portuguese line, their Portofino line and their Da Vinci line.
