Govberg Jewelers, (Moreland Hills, Cleveland, Ohio), was on-deck at the launch of Cleveland Metroparks’ Community Sailing Program Wednesday, August 31st, showcasing the Bremont America’s Cup Collection. Guests had exclusive access to the latest Regatta models that represent the partnership between Bremont, the America’s Cup and Oracle Team USA (OTUSA).

The four watches in the latest Regatta collection have a distinct sailing feel, reminiscent of the team that wears them. The countdown functionality is extremely important when racing and Bremont specially designed their countdown Regatta chronograph movements to better assist sailors.

Regatta OTUSA

While racing the state-of-the-art AC48 catamaran and defending their title in America’s Cup, the Oracle Team USA will be wearing the Bremont Regatta OTUSA. This sailing watch houses an automatic movement customized by Bremont with a 15-minute Regatta timer and 5-minute start timer. Adding to the exclusivity of the pieces, the crown will incorporate a piece of the carbon fiber from the yacht foil of the AC72 that Oracle Team USA sailed in the legendary 2013 America’s Cup victory.

In an interview featured in iW Magazine’s Summer 2016 issue conducted by Nola Martin, Jimmy Spithill, Oracle Team USA Skipper, explains the significance of this timepiece. “With the countdown function being so crucial when racing out on the water, we are really delighted that Bremont has invested in this for us and it’s incredibly special for me that the watches also incorporate some of our winning AC72, which I skippered in 2013.”

Along with the essential counting timers and the central chronograph, the watch displays the hours, minutes, seconds, and date – a difficult feat to fit in the 43mm titanium case. This sporty, C.O.S.C-certified watch has a 42-hour power reserve and offers 100 meters of water resistance. It is a limited series of 235 pieces per white or black dial. As a tribute to the race and Bremont’s partnership, the rotor is decorated with the America’s Cup logo.

Regatta AC

The second in the series is the Bremont Regatta AC, has a tailored dial in contrast to its brother, the Regatta OTUSA. The classic white dial with complementary blued hands pairs nicely with the domed crystal and proposes a sophisticated style for sailors. Bremont produced 235 Regatta AC watches in polished steel and 135 in rose gold.

The America’s Cup

In May 2015, Bremont was delighted to be announced as the Official Timing Partner of the America’s Cup and of Defenders Oracle Team USA (OTUSA).

Renowned as the oldest trophy in international sport the America’s Cup first took place in 1851 on the waters off England’s south coast. Today this exciting and compelling event remains firmly at the forefront of the international sporting calendar, with cutting edge foiling catamarans crewed by world-class sailors fighting to win the historic trophy.

To celebrate this partnership, Bremont created four special edition watches, the AC I and AC II inspired by the legendary J-Class yachts of the 1930s and Oracle I and Oracle II designed for the Defenders of the America’s Cup, showcasing technical innovation, precision and durability.

Following a successful Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in 2015, this year six teams Artemis Racing (Sweden), Emirates Team New Zealand, Groupama Team France, Land Rover BAR (Britain), SoftBank Team Japan and ORACLE TEAM USA will fleet race around the world. Points gained in the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series count towards the Qualifiers held in Bermuda in May 2017.
