With the long anticipated Week 1 of the regular season of the NFL finally upon us, we’re taking a closer look a a few top players and their watches. Football players sign multi-million dollar deals to play in the National Football League, and of course with more money comes more watches. Players like Tom Brady have even partnered with watch brands like TAG Heuer because of their name recognition and success in the league. Take a look at some players and their incredible watch game.
Top Watches in Football
Tom Brady – TAG Heuer
The three-time Superbowl MVP is an icon in football, playing his entire career with the New England Patriots. In October 2014, Brady joined the TAG Heuer family and is currently a brand ambassador for TAG.
Brady’s top pick from the company is the Carrera – Heuer 01, a watch that symbolizes the evolution of the Caliber 1887. The dial side of the watch reveals the chronograph controls and an openwork date disc while the caseback includes a red column wheel, and a skeleton chronograph bridge. The watch perfectly compliments the quarterback’s sleek and masculine style and continues his love for TAG Heuer.
Brady says, “The first watch I purchased was a TAG. So, it looks like I’ve now come full circle with this admired company.”
Dallas Cowboys – Hublot
Hublot partnered with America’s Team in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys. Before the creation of the team, there was not an NFL team south of Washington D.C since the Dallas Texans folded in 1952. In 1960, the Cowboys were created and now have five Super Bowl championships.
To celebrate the partnership, Hublot created a watch collection that is elegantly inspired by the Cowboys’ blue and silver colors. There are three watches in the collection, the Classic Fusion Dallas Cowboys, Classic Fusion Ladies Dallas Cowboys and King Power Dallas Cowboys.
The one that stands out is the King Power Dallas Cowboys. The micro-blasted black ceramic 48mm case perfectly works with the micro-blasted black ceramic bezel and the black rubber strap. Also available with alligator or black stitched straps. Inside is the HUB 4100, a mechanical chronograph with automatic winding and central seconds hand. Included on the dial is a star applique at 5 o’clock, which is a gentle nod to the team.
Odell Beckham Jr – Rolex
Arguably one of the most stylish men in the NFL, Odell Beckham Jr. chose a diamond-encased Breitling when he was drafted to the New York Giants in 2014. He posted a picture to his Instagram account of the diamond watch with the caption: We all have the same 24 hrs in a day. It’s how we use them that makes all the difference… #blessed #Breitling.” The model Beckham is wearing is a custom Breitling with chronograph, date functions and a diamond dial as well as a diamond bezel.
More recently, Beckham has been seen sporting a similar diamond encrusted watch, but this time he’s switched to a Rolex Day Date with Roman numerals, pictured above and spotted on his Instagram.
J.C. Coleman – G-Shock/Rolex
At the start of college football season last year, the sports world was taken aback when Virginia Tech running back, J.C. Coleman wore what people thought was a gold Rolex.
It was not, but for a moment people were either confused or impressed with Coleman’s watch game. The watch was actually a gold G-Shock that has a retail value of $150. Under NCAA rules, the only watches that can be worn are ones made from plastic, so Coleman’s Rolex will have to wait until after the game. Might we suggest a pre-owned Rolex Daytona? It has a similar color to the G-Shock and comes on an 18k yellow gold oyster bracelet.
