As the winter chill is upon us and snowfall and frost invigorate us with its presence, let’s take a look at some watches that dazzle us with diamonds.

Diamonds are Forever

Precious jems and jewels have always been featured in luxury watches. Over the years, these glittering jewels are finding their way onto dials, bezels and bracelets. Explore these diamond watches from just hour markers to the truly unique.

The Rolex Pearlmaster Oyster Perpetual Day-Date (Ref 81299) features a platinum dial, striking for its silvery whiteness and vibrant luminosity.

Because of the extremely high degree of skill necessary to work with its soft, elastic and highly malleable material, every Rolex dial is painstakingly crafted in-house by fine metalworkers as to ensure perfection. Audemars Piguet Diamond Punk Onyx

Our next watch is the audacious Audemars Piguet Diamond Punk watch. This beautiful diamond and black onyx bracelet crafted in 18-karat white gold, hides a secret watch adorned with 300 diamonds on the dial itself. The geometric, pyramid-like studs all over the bracelet are inspired by the punk era. “Snow-setting” the 5,326 diamonds, an artistic technique to mimic the beauty of freshly fallen snow, along with the assembly of the watch, takes the artisans and watchmakers more than 1,440 hours to accomplish. This watch doesn’t come cheap but the beauty and the sparkle warrant the $590,000 pricetag.

F.P. Journe Élégante 40mm Sertie Calibre 1210

This diamond-feature blog article would not be complete without mentioning the stunningly elegant F.P. Journe Élégante. This revolutionary electro mechanical movement, in development for 8 years, was designed to provide an exceptionally long period of autonomy – 8 to 10 years in daily use and up to 18 years in standby mode. Besides the beauty of this exceptional watch, the most interesting aspect is its impressive F.P. Journe quartz movement. In order to save energy, after 30 minutes without motion, the élégante switches to standby mode and its hands stop turning. Once the watch is picked up to be worn again, it automatically sets itself to the correct time, with the hands taking the shortest path, whether clockwise or counterclockwise.
