From Cleveland to Philadelphia and Beyond
As everyone knows, the great American cities of Philadelphia and Cleveland are marking history this summer hosting the upcoming 2016 Political Conventions. Govberg Jewelers, a 100-year-old premier watch retailer with store locations in these two fine cities, is excited to welcome the conventions and to join in the celebration of this great American tradition.
We invite all watch enthusiasts across the City of Brotherly Love and Forest City, and everyone in between, to explore the various aspects of watches, watchmaking, and timekeeping heritage with Govberg Jewelers throughout this election season.
To commemorate the conventions happening in Philadelphia and Cleveland, we take a look at some historical facts and the presumptive nominees. Don’t worry, we won’t preach any political ideologies, (we’ll leave that to the media, your friends and family). This is just a fun way to celebrate history, watches and the two convention host cities.
The Republican National Convention (RNC), July 18th– 21st, is going to be held in the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH, home of Lebron James and the 2016 Championship Cleveland Cavaliers. This year marks the third Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Donald Trump, this years’ presumptive candidate, is likely to be wearing his own watch, like a Donald J Trump Signature Collection TR 1050 Chronograph.
Instead, might we suggest a Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysics Universal Time? Whether or not Trump wins the presidency, the world time complication and map-style dial would be perfect for any global leader with its classic and timeless design.
The Democratic National Convention (DNC), July 25th-28th, is going to be held in Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, home of the newly energized Philadelphia 76ers basketball team. Philadelphia was the first U.S. capital and the site where the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has become the first woman to capture the majority nomination for president, taking her one step closer to the possibility of becoming the first female president.
Mrs. Clinton’s watch choices have ranged from a Rolex Two Tone Datejust to a Chanel J12. Maybe she could keep the Rolex, but switch it for a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31. The watch is feminine with a diamond-adorned bezel but has a more refined and stately feel we know Hillary would love.
Follow along throughout these two conventions as we feature historical places, historical faces, cool facts and more from these two pioneering watchmaking cities. #dnc2016 #rnc2016 #govbergwatches #govbergontime
